105 films made the cut and are competing in six different competitions for prize money totalling 7,600 euros. The festival’s main prize, the jury prize from the BMW plant in Landshut, is worth 3,000 euros. In addition to the prize money, the winner will receive the Landshut Short Film Festival’s new film-award trophy, designed by artist Stephan Quenkert.
For the first time, films up to 50 minutes long were also admitted to the competition. In this way, the organisers also want to give the “medium-length film” a forum, as this format still does not receive sufficient attention in cinema, television or at festivals.
There are more than 30 events across the three festival cinemas, and at Bayerischer Rundfunk’s big On3 party and the film-festival party, visitors can discuss what they have seen or simply celebrate.
