Until now, it was necessary to adapt rod lengths individually to the respective lens so that filters could be rotated freely in front of the rod ends. The new VariTub telescopic rods have a basic length of 150 mm and extend by 80 mm. The extension has a 20 mm cap with a 15 mm diameter, which either accepts the matte box or sits in the lightweight support beneath the camera. This means that the standard 15 mm diameter for attaching the follow-focus unit and fluid zoom drive is available in every position.
A quarter-turn anticlockwise releases the internal clamp and allows the rod length to be adjusted between 150 and 230 mm. A short turn in the direction of the printed arrows fixes the new length.
The extension is made from solid aluminium and precisely fitted to the high-strength aluminium outer tube, ensuring clean guidance and easy adjustment even under load.
A pair weighs 141 grams.
In principle, the new Chrosziel VariTub telescopic rods can also be used with supports not made by Chrosziel, provided they are designed for a 15 mm rod diameter.
