Developed for use in KONTAKT 4 and the free KONTAKT PLAYER, it offers a versatile arsenal of completely authentic, genuinely playable drum sounds for 1970s-style productions and various modern genres.
At the heart of ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS are two sought-after drum kits from the 1970s era, a Premier and a Ludwig. Thanks to the carefully captured room sound of the famous “Studio Two”,
the Ludwig kit provides the typical “big”, expansive drum sound that characterised many classic rock songs of the 1970s. The Premier set, by contrast, was recorded with special room damping to produce a particularly dry and punchy sound that can also be used for contemporary styles such as R&B and disco.
All samples were recorded with the highest level of detail using Abbey Road’s extensive recording expertise. Classic microphones from the studios’ unique microphone collection, as well as the exclusive EMI TG mixing console, a two-inch tape machine and other traditional analogue equipment, all contributed to the charismatic sound of ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS. Appropriate microphone setups are available to serve both classic and modern sound aesthetics, while the Ludwig kit even offers an optional “Glyn Jones” configuration that formed the basis of many typical 1970s drum recordings.
With up to 34 velocity layers per instrument and up to six different variation samples each, ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS provides ultimate authenticity both for drum programming in a sequencer and direct performance via MIDI. A selection of different MIDI mappings makes it easy to adapt to the layouts of common electronic drum kits and existing drum libraries. The clear ABBEY ROAD 70s DRUMS user interface provides convenient control of sound parameters, articulations, and mixing and routing functions. Special randomise options can also create subtle variations in timbre and timing, resulting in a particularly natural performance that is indistinguishable from a professional drum recording.
