Pro7Sat1 Produktion in Unterföhring is the first customer to adopt the new DCH-series IPTV HD encoders. Two DCH-500EC H.264/AVC HD encoders have been ordered. The devices are intended for internal HD network distribution in the company’s digital television operation. At the same time, the live streams generated are to be used for recording in IP-based broadcast logging.
The DCH-series HD encoder and HD decoder provide professional users with versatile tools for transmitting HD signals. The units use pure hardware encoding and are designed for continuous operation.
The DCH-500EC encoder offers a wide range of signal inputs for HDMI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, component and composite video, and supports embedded and analogue audio. The encoder supports the 576i, 720p and 1080i video formats. It can optionally be used as an ASI/IP or IP/ASI transcoding unit, for MPEG2 HD conversion as well as SD downconversion.
The new DCH hardware series was designed for distribution and contribution applications in IPTV and broadcast environments. The series is used primarily in companies, schools, universities, control centres, the medical sector, and anywhere flexible live multicast distribution or recording of HD signals is required.
The HD encoders are part of a larger IPTV installation. Teracue ENC-100/200 encoders and DEC-200 decoders for H.264/MPEG-2 SD are also in use.
The encoder devices were first presented at the ISE trade show in Amsterdam and will be exhibited at stand G54 at ANGACable from May 4 to 6, 2010.
