Framepool, the footage portal by and for filmmakers, and LBBOnline, the website for the advertising community, created this new award. It is dedicated to Fireflies, an organisation supporting the fight against leukaemia by both raising funds and increasing public awareness of the disease. Every year, amateur athletes from film and advertising cycle across the Alps from Geneva to Cannes on the ‘Fireflies Tour’ – inspired by the courage required in the fight against cancer. For its tenth anniversary this year, the initiative aims to break the one-million-pound fundraising barrier, and the 2010 Framepool/LBBOnline/Fireflies Challenge wants to help achieve that goal.
Filmmakers from around the world can help raise awareness of Fireflies while also raising their own profile: entry to the 2010 Framepool/LBBOnline/Fireflies Challenge is free, and the competition offers directors and their teams a unique showcase.
The 2010 Framepool/LBBOnline/Fireflies Challenge:
Entrants are asked to express their associations with the theme of ‘Courage’ in a commercial or short film. Works should be between 30 seconds and three minutes long. The theme can be approached in a highly individual way – a child diving into a swimming pool for the first time, skydivers before jumping from an aircraft, mountain climbers on an ascent… anything illustrating bravery and courage, whether extreme or seemingly insignificant, is eligible. The fundamental intention is to honour the courage of all those who must overcome difficulties in their everyday lives.
The jury for this award comprises some of the world’s most recognised representatives from various branches of the advertising industry: Andy Gulliman (Saatchi & Saatchi), Jake Scott (RSA), Olivier Altmann (Publicis), Ringan Ledwidge (Rattling Stick), Stefan Sonnenfeld (Company 3), Sandy Watson Scott (The Fireflies), Wolf Jaiser (Framepool, 16tracks), Barnsley (The Mill), Piyush Pandey (Ogilvy), Kim Gehrig (Academy), Steffen Gentis (BBDO), and several others.
This year’s winners will be the first recipients of the new award; the competition is intended to take place annually from now on.
The ten best films will be shown worldwide and seen by thousands of creatives.
The rules:
