With UltraStudio Pro, Blackmagic says it is introducing the first “capture and playback” solution for USB 3.0 computers. In addition to the latest broadcast technology, an enormous increase in speed and maximum real-time effects for uncompressed 10-bit editing, the product developers also placed emphasis on an unusual design. The recording and playback device enables professional and fast work and a more attractive desk for around US$895.
Two new Intensity models are also being introduced: Intensity Pro for PCI Express-based computers and Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 computers. Intensity Shuttle is being sent into the NAB new-product showcase equipped with separate HDMI 1.3 and full 10-bit video quality. Blackmagic promises professional performance at an affordable price of US$199.
The new DeckLink HD Extreme 3D is intended to enable real-time 3D editing. The solution now supports not only 2D but also Stereo 3D workflows. The new version of the familiar broadcast capture card features, among other things, a 12-bit hardware architecture, 3 GB per second SDI, and support for up to 1080p60 in SDI. The price is US$995, according to the manufacturer of high-end video-card and converter solutions.
The new model of HDLink Pro 3D likewise enters the breach for Stereo 3D workflows. The converter solution permits regular and, of course, Stereo 3D SDI monitoring. The solution impresses, on the one hand, with inexpensive displays featuring the DisplayPort connection standard and, on the other, with the first HDMI 1.4 SDI monitoring for the new 3D television.
Blackmagic also announced yesterday that its capture cards for Windows and Mac platforms support Adobe Creative Suite 5. The combination of the real-time Adobe Mercury Playback Engine with Blackmagic products means a genuine performance gain, Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty explained on the second day of the trade fair.
