The eighth and final Intel Friday Night Game of the current ESL Pro Series season takes place at the Tonhalle Munich on May 28, 2010. Germany’s professional players are fighting for important points towards participation in the Alienware Finals in the Bundesliga for computer gamers. The prize money for the 16th season amounts to 130,000 euros. The audience will experience top matches in Quake Live, Counter-Strike Source, Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike 1.6. Organiser Turtle Entertainment expects 1,100 spectators.
The event opens with Quake Live. Second-placed Benjamin “calipt” Jakob faces third-placed Philipp “reload” Kotecki. Both have lost only one match in the current season and are on the heels of league leader Marcel “k1llsen” Paul.
Two leading teams then fight for victory in Counter-Strike Source. Four-time and reigning German champion Team Alternate from Linden meets currently fifth-placed team GAMED.DE from Düsseldorf. While league leader Team Alternate is certain to take part in the finals with a victory, GAMED.DE needs a win in the fight for fourth and therefore the final qualifying place for the finals.
In Warcraft 3, the two opponents enter with different starting positions. Tobias “ReiGn” Muth from Mallersdorf can preserve his slim chance of participating in the final in Cologne in mid-June with a victory. Three points would give Johannes “hanf” Morlo from St. Ingbert a small cushion over the direct relegation places and keep him in touch with the middle of the table.
The evening’s top match comes in Counter-Strike 1.6. Local favourite TBH.ASUS, backed by numerous fans, plays against You Don’t Know Me from Offenbach. The Munich team is currently third in the table and has lost only two of its twelve matches this season. Its participation in the Alienware Finals is all but certain. You Don’t Know Me is also fighting for a finals place. In seventh position, the Offenbach team is five points behind Frankfurt 69ers in fourth.
