Hamburg Media School and the Allianz Deutscher Produzenten – Film & Fernsehen have agreed to establish a “Research and Competence Centre for Audiovisual Production.” The new “think tank” is to address research topics in media economics and media law and compile industry statistics in film and television production.
The cooperation focuses on current issues connected with the production of audiovisual content, with an emphasis on the German market.
Prof. Dr Insa Sjurts, Managing Director of Hamburg Media School: “The idea of the think tank is to identify topics relevant to the future through scientifically sound, innovative and creative thinking, design strategically promising patterns of action and business models, and provide guidance for their implementation. We are very pleased to be breaking new ground together with the Producers Alliance. Our existing projects with Spiegel TV and the already successfully implemented ‘Innovation Lab Print’ think tank under the direction of Jakob Augstein will thereby be supplemented by a highly attractive partner from the film industry.”
Alexander Thies, Chairman of the Board of the Allianz Deutscher Produzenten – Film & Fernsehen, and Managing Director Dr Christoph E. Palmer: “The digitisation of audiovisual media means the media and entertainment industry is undergoing a profound process of transformation that extends far beyond day-to-day business. The foundations for necessary decisions about future direction must be defined. This also includes regularly collecting reliable data about the German film and television production industry. We are pleased that we can now address these topics with such an outstanding teaching and research institution as Hamburg Media School.”
Prof. Dr Oliver Castendyk, Scientific Director of the Producers Alliance, was appointed head of the “Research and Competence Centre for Audiovisual Production” at Hamburg Media School.
