Wickie Breaks the Million Mark

Vikings seem to be just as “in” as pirates. About one million visitors have seen the little red-haired Viking’s second adventure – “Wickie auf großer Fahrt” – in 3D since September 29.

Instead of Michael “Bully” Herbig, Christian Ditter directed the sequel; the Viking faces from the first part remained largely the same. Well-known cameo appearances by Christian Ulmen as a crusader and Eva Padberg as a model acting did not stand out unpleasantly. The appearance of Günther Kaufmann and Christoph Maria Herbst as an evil duo, on the other hand, is a true highlight.

The title song was also modernized, with Nena contributing a rockier version of the Wickie title song. It remains to be seen whether the second part of “Wickie und die starken Männer” will catch up with the total of around 2.75 million visitors. But with the autumn holidays in Germany now just around the corner, this is within the realm of possibility.
