Among them are some Hollywood blockbusters that, financially speaking, are among the most successful cinema productions of 2010. These include "The Smurfs", "Rango" and "Cars 2".
But smaller animated productions with artistic aspirations have also made the list, such as "Une vie de chat" from France or "Chico and Rita" from Spain, which will probably have rather lower chances of making the selection of the five nominated films for the Oscar ceremony, because the competition could be too overwhelming.
A major favorite for the golden trophy will certainly be the just-released "The Adventures of Tintin" by Steven Spielberg, which has set the bar very high with motion-capture technology at an innovative level. But the die is far from cast; the films actually nominated will not be announced until January 24, and one month later, on February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre, the winner of the best animated film of 2010 will be announced.
