IPad users can download the app free of charge and upload their photos, whether of people or objects, via the app to the Autodesk cloud service called My Corner. This cloud service in conjunction with the app is also free of charge. The system then takes care of reconstructing the 3D geometry. In general, methods familiar from 3D photogrammetry, such as "Poissen Surface Reconstruction", are used in such procedures, based on millions of previously created points. An object must be photographed from all sides, each image is assigned 3D points, and these are compared from shot to shot. The shell model is created by the mathematical algorithm. The created datasets of the 3D objects can then be reused for, for example, animations, further modeling, or the increasingly emerging field of 3D printing.
The app can be downloaded from the following link, but initially only through the American store. The best app performance is achieved by using IPad 2 and IPad 3.
