On March 31, 2012, another submission deadline ended, and this time around 63 Bavarian cinema screens received subsidies totaling 1,002,654 EUR. A record of 65 applications was even measured for the deadline at the end of March. However, the subsidies apply only to conversion of the basic equipment such as projector, server technology, and installation costs, with a maximum subsidy of 25% of the investment costs or a maximum of 18,000 EUR per screen.
New round, new luck
A further submission deadline has been set for September 30, 2012. Applications can be submitted again until then, and according to FFF Bayern, the program is also expected to remain in place for the next two years. Prof. Dr. Klaus Schaefer spoke very positively about the development, since small and medium-sized cinemas are important cultural and leisure institutions and their preservation can thus be secured, as conversion to digital technology has now become essential to their existence.
The investment volume for the deadline ending on September 30 is expected to continue to amount to 25% of the investment costs, although the actual investment volume depends on the availability of funding.
