With square dimensions of only 29 x 29 x 30 mm, the camera fits in one hand; according to the manufacturer, the video resolution is 4,096 x 2,160 pixels with a pixel size of 1.55 µm. The camera is intended to have a USB 3.0 connection as well as a Sony IMX121 CMOS sensor. Corresponding lenses can be attached via a C-mount thread on the housing.
The ice-cube camera Flea3 was originally intended for surveillance situations in which high resolution is needed, because at 21 fps the motion sequences in the recordings are not entirely fluid. In the VFX field, motion capturing might perhaps be a possible area of application for this camera.
The manufacturer supplies the FlyCapture SDK software, which is compatible with Microsoft Windows (32 and 64 bit) as well as Linux Ubuntu. The camera is available in various model versions; the price for the 4K version is intended to be 945 US dollars.
