Bavaria’s Media Minister Thomas Kreuzer is confident as a result of the increase and wants to expand Bavaria as a film and media location further.
In addition to the actual grants, there is also to be a special program amounting to 6 million euros. The background is that international film productions are intended to be tied to the Free State of Bavaria.
Through the increase in the funding amount, the Free State is once again shaking up the top three positions among the German states’ film-funding bodies and is moving further forward in great strides. In the previous year, for example, funding in NRW amounted to 30.5 million euros, while a funding amount of 28.9 million euros was used in Berlin-Brandenburg. Bavaria, by contrast, had a funding volume of 28.2 million euros plus 1.5 million euros through the Bavarian Bank Fund.
