In addition to integration of the iray renderer, the plug-in is also intended to provide a modern interface and significantly reduce render times through the Application Programming Interface (API) by creating GPU clusters that distribute rendering across different GPUs. Furthermore, Framework is intended not only to be able to integrate the iray renderer into existing applications, but also to allow new applications to be developed using Framework as a foundation.

New features in this release include the Node Manager, with which, according to Nvidia, render clusters can be formed based on various criteria. With the new Physical Sun & Sky System, which is based on physical models, realistic lighting effects are intended to be addable to interior and exterior scenes.

In addition, a new rendering algorithm, a motion-blur simulation function based on the movement of objects, and an iray Bridge are said to have been added as features. The new Matte Objects function is intended to enable the renderer to simulate simulations of interactions between artificial objects and the natural environment. And through the Render Buffer Support feature, according to Nvidia artists receive more flexibility in the workflow because the images can be manipulated better in post.

More information about the other features of Nvidia iray Integration Framework can be obtained here.

Three license versions of Nvidia iray Intergration Framework are available: The Developer Edition is available free of charge; there is also a Cluster and a Retail License, for which Nividia must be contacted to learn the price.
