Digital Domain officially filed for bankruptcy this week and closed its headquarters in Florida. According to Reuters, Prime Focus, an Indian service provider for post-production and 3D conversion, already appears to be preparing a bid for the insolvent company. According to Reuters, no statement directly from Prime Focus had been possible up to that point because no contact was available for this matter. As soon as there is news about the sale of the Digital Domain Media Group, we will report on it.
Prime Focus was founded in the late 1990s by Bollywood veteran Namit Malhotra and has since contributed to countless Hollywood productions such as Avatar, Harry Potter, and Dredd. Furthermore, the 2D-to-3D conversion of Star Wars Episode One – The Phantom Menace was also carried out at Prime Focus.
Digital Domain was founded back in 1993 by James Cameron, Stan Winston, and Scott Ross. This year, a technology transfer was also carried out between the two companies, allowing Prime Focus to use Digital Domain’s 3D conversion.
