Nuke 7 is nevertheless intended to represent a major step forward towards the best possible performance in the VFX workflow. This includes the new RAM playback cache feature, which is intended to give artists real-time playback. The revised Roto tools are intended to give artists finer control and improved interaction speed, with real-time playback of Roto overlays and improved stereo support.

In Nuke 7, the 2D tracker is said to have been revised, so that different objects can now be tracked and corrected with more precise control over the tracking function. The new SplineWarp tool is intended to make it possible to create splines independently with different warp values for the individual layers or spline pairs.

The upgrade is intended to equip Primatte Keyer 5 with new features, including a colour background selection, a new hybrid renderer, a lighting adjustment feature and various new output modes.

According to The Foundry, the improved PositionToPoints tool makes it possible to create point clouds faster and modify them with the Geometry Modifier. With the improved DopeSheet and the new TimeClip Node, artists are intended to be able to move elements visually around the timeline. The ZDefocus tool is said to be an important upgrade for the ZBlur tool with an improved algorithm and much more. The new Bookmark feature is also intended to make it possible to bookmark nodes or backdrops and jump back and forth between them using the Bookmarks Search Box.

According to The Foundry, Nuke 7 now also supports the ARRIRAW camera format and the latest update for the R3D SDK.
