Blackmagic has followed suit, and graders can now use Resolve with Apple Retina displays. The manufacturer promises the best image quality on 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros.
Resolve also now supports XML for FCP X Audition. Better handling of different frame rates in XML is now intended to ensure a smoother workflow between Resolve, FCP X or FCP 7.
The update also adds support for the CinemaDNG format used by the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. The CinemaDNG Input Device Transform (IDT) makes it possible to grade RAW files in ACES workflows.
Further features include playback support for Sony RAW F55/F5, playback and render support for DNxHD 100, XAVC and AVC-INtra 100 MFX.
According to the manufacturer, render times for Sony CineAlta SStP files are also said to have improved considerably.
Resolve 9.1 can now also work with DeckLink 4K Extreme and with the RED Mysterium-X Monochrome Sensor (software decode).
The update is available free of charge to all Resolve users (for Mac, Windows and Linux). The public beta for DaVinci Resolve Lite 9.1 (for Mac OSX and Windows) is accessible to all users.
