The reason for the ILM job cuts is Lucasfilm’s previous workflow strategy: technical resources and personnel were deployed in parallel across the VFX, animation and games divisions as needed.
With production of the animated series "Clone Wars" ending, the next animated Star Wars series not yet having entered production, and LucasArts being closed, some employees were working only for ILM. The resulting surplus staff had to leave. Lucasfilm did not specify the exact number of employees dismissed, but the IT and support staff groups are said to have been particularly affected.
The shooter "Star Wars 1313" is also no longer expected to be developed further. The game’s first trailers promised impressive visuals.
