Red Giant presented BulletProof for the first time at NAB 2013. The organisational tool is intended to let film teams pre-sort recordings and convert them into edit-ready footage for post-production.
BulletProof specialises in a workflow with DSLR and sports cameras. The original material is intended to remain unchanged throughout every work step. Red Giant says that a checksum-protected backup of the recordings can be created, while scenes can be arranged with thumbnails into a form of rough cut in the Organize Room. Individual clips can be scrubbed in the Review Room and given in and out points.
Red Giant states that initial colour corrections and matching, attached to the clips non-destructively, can be performed in the Refine Room. Export is intended to mark proxies with various frame rates and timecodes. The programme is also said to be usable by people who are not actually editors.
The public beta will be released in spring 2013, and V0.1 is expected to appear in summer for 199 dollars, initially only for Mac, although the Windows version is expected to follow shortly afterwards.
