Extension 2 of Maya LT 2014 is intended to improve the workflow of indie game developers; the version was designed on the basis of customer feedback.
Support for MEL scripting makes it possible to simplify repetitive or complex tasks and share them with team members. A Script Editor means that scripts no longer have to be written manually and corresponding commands are displayed in the MEL scripts. Users can save scripts and integrate them into the UI via buttons or hotkeys.
Another feature is the improvement of HumanIK and IK Handle technology, so that animation, rigging and the transfer of information between characters are accelerated. According to Autodesk, new export options allow Maya LT 3D assets to be exported in OBJ file format. This expands the compatibility of Maya LT assets with other tools and game engines.
Maya LT Extension 2 is available as a free download for subscription or pay-as-you-go model customers.
