The Cinec tool comes from the Spanish company Cinemartin and is suitable for Windows systems. HEVC encoding was specifically improved in version 3.0; the tool is now said to be able to process resolutions up to 4K, making it very well suited to the distribution of high-resolution video content. The new release also focuses on CinemaDNG files: A raw converter allows raw files in CinemaDNG format to be adjusted in terms of look and then encoded into the desired output format and required resolution.
Cinec is available in three product versions: Gold, Pro and Standard, which differ solely in terms of file support. The Gold version 3.0 is available for 599 euros and supports the files and formats AVI, MPEG, WMV, MTS, 3GP, MXF, MOV, Video DNG, RAW DNG, Cinema DNG and DPX as well as resolutions from SD PAL/SD NTSC up to 8K. The Pro version lacks support for DPX and 8K resolution, but costs only 199 euros. The slim Standard version is available for 99 euros, but does not support RAW and Cinema DNG or DPX, and in terms of resolution it is limited to SD and HD resolutions.
For encoding, the available options include ProRes up to a maximum of ProRes 4444, Avid DNxHD from DNxHD 36 up to a maximum of DNxHD 220, as well as various versions of H.264. In addition to encoding, every version of Cinec 3.0 is also said to support conversion between all available codecs.
