Autodesk 3ds Max 2015 has been expanded and redesigned to simplify performance, usability and the management of complex scenes. New is ShaderFX, a node-based visual interface that allows game artists and programmers to design high-quality HLSL viewport shaders.

Another new feature is support for point-cloud data for Reality Capture workflows.

In addition, viewport performance has been improved and Scene Explorer has been revised so that artists can manage large scenes more easily.

There is ActiveShade support for the NVIDIA mental ray renderer and new Python scripting support—a function for pipeline integration that was heavily requested by users.

Availability differs in each country. Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, Entertainment Creation Suites and Maya LT are available in two ways: as a perpetual license or in the form of Desktop Subscription. Further information is available at www.autodesk.de.
