The previously named "Sit on Terrain" function has been expanded and is now called "Anchor". It can be used to anchor populations to the planet’s surface or to any object in the scene. This function can be used, for example, to cover rocks or trees with moss or to better integrate imported custom objects visually into the terrain.
Further new features include new movable graphical 3D primitives that make it easier to create columns, pyramids and other shape elements—such as floating islands. In addition, Planetside has improved the performance of the 3D preview, and the new "Geog Image Map Shader" can load georeferenced images. Furthermore, the recurring rendering problems with the Spherical Cameras are now said to have been resolved and Population Cache Files should load faster.
The update is free for Terragen 3.0 users and can be obtained via the built-in "Check For Update" function. Terragen 3.0 is available for Windows 32- and 64-bit as well as Mac OS X version 10.6 and later. You can find all prices for the various Terragen versions (Creative and Professional with and without Animation) here. Prices start at 199 dollars.
