The medium-sized company Denz from Ottobrunn near Munich has developed a
PL-mount camera rig for the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. It consists of the base plate with integrated PL-mount socket, the frame and the top plate. The kit also includes a pair of aluminum rods and a pair of Hirth rosettes.
By connecting the PL mounts to the base plate, the entire weight of the lenses is transferred from the PL mount to the base plate and the Blackmagic camera remains mechanically unloaded, according to the manufacturer.
The camera is reworked by the company and fitted with a stainless-steel PL mount so that PL lenses with a protruding rear lens element can also be used. The result is a robust camera with PL mount that can be used with all common PL lenses.
But users who only want to use the EF mount already present on the Blackmagic camera and use the kit merely as a cage should also be able to do so with the support ring for the Blackmagic camera’s EF mounts.
The rig itself costs 1,260 euros, while the conversion costs 495 euros.
