Blackmagic Design pulled out all the stops at NAB and presented the Studio Camera, a new camera developed specifically for live production. The 1080 HD and Ultra HD models are available immediately and from June respectively and Cost US$1,995, while the 4K model costs US$2,995.
The camera models were developed specifically for the particular requirements of live productions and therefore feature large viewfinders, talkback, tally, fiber optic connectivity and particularly robust metal housings.
The Blackmagic Studio Camera also calls a 10-inch viewfinder monitor its own. In addition, it comes with a battery with a four-hour runtime, talkback, tally indicators, phantom-powered microphone connections as well as fiber optic and SDI connections. According to the manufacturer, this allows the camera to be connected to a production switcher via a single cable.
