Like Nuke from The Foundry, Mamba FX is node-based and is intended to cover both small indie projects and large productions. According to SGO, together with Mistika it creates a complete finishing workflow.

Various features have been added in version 2: one of the key features is the "Layer Route Effect", which offers support for working with multi-layer .exr files. This allows multi-render passes or different matte or alpha channels to be transported into the compositing software.
Another feature is the “Spatial Isolation Keyer” interfaces, which are intended to enable advanced compositing techniques, such as decoupling elements in a scene by their 3D position, surface direction (normals), or object ID and material ID.
Also new is a "High-Speed Point Cloud Shape Tracker", which gives compositing artists the ability to track 2D roto shapes in shots very quickly. The "Space Conversion Tools" have also been added, supporting color management including ACES workflows. Other innovations include a customizable interface for a monitor configuration and Dolby EDR support.
Mamba FX 2.0 is compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac. Customers who already own Mamba 1.0 receive a free update. A trial version is also available for new customers. Mamba tutorials are available here.
Mamba FX 2.0 costs 239 euros. You can find the article about Mamba FX from DP issue 04/14 in the attachment as a PDF.
