As reported by the Animation World Network, among others, the release date for the fifth installment of the pirate saga has been set: on July 7, 2017, Captain Jack Sparrow will once again take to the world’s oceans, and the work is titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales". After "The Lone Ranger" failed to meet expectations, plans to produce a fifth installment were delayed. But after the films reportedly grossed more than 3.7 billion US dollars in total, work is now underway on the next one. A safe bet. If only a fraction of the box-office result were put into a good screenplay.
What is interesting about this is that Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg have been chosen as directors. In 2012, the two Norwegians staged the much-noticed film "Kontiki". Its VFX were created in Sweden. It may well be that this will also be the case for the next installment of the franchise, which could increasingly bring Sweden into the international VFX shot game. But there is still some time until then. So, wait and drink rum.
