With the new software, objects in a photo can be rotated or even animated, which leads to very cool effects. The principle is actually simple: for demonstration purposes, the researchers created a database of freely available 3D objects. In the video, the application is shown using a chair and a car, for example. The object does not have to match one-to-one – the software even takes over part of the geometry adjustment. The work is being presented at Siggraph alongside many other Technical Papers.
