Photoshop is now able to import animation and rigging data in the form of Collada files. The feature is available on the timeline, allowing the model to be posed at a particular point and then printed with a 3D printer.
The current update also makes it possible to export 3D PDFs from the 3D menu. Selecting the option enables a PDF with all 3D PDF controls.
One of the biggest changes concerns Creative Cloud accounts. New CC Libraries allow users to collect colours, brushes, text styles, graphics and vector images in a central cloud repository. The elements can then be used in every supported application, including Illustrator, as well as on connected devices.
Performance has also been optimised overall; the GPU-accelerated Mercury Graphics Engine now supports Focus Area. And on devices with the Windows 8.1 operating system, touch control can now be used; it is no longer an experimental feature as it was previously.
Designers have the option of creating multiple guide layouts and guides from shapes, and for web designers there is now an Extract Assets feature that can generate web-optimised images from a PSD file in various resolutions and formats.
