Lagoa allegedly cost Autodesk around 62 million. Lagoa founder Thiago Costa, however, did not want to comment on the transaction.
All that is needed to use Lagoa is a browser. No further downloads or plug-ins are required. There is a free version of Lagoa with pro-level tools in the cloud, 100 GB of storage and three simultaneous renderers, although it is subject to certain terms of use. For the Custom Business Solution with unlimited storage, five simultaneous renderers and company user management, you have to contact Lagoa.
In addition to a photorealistic visualiser and renderer, Lagoa also offers product configuration and a collaboration function. Lagoa is said to support 40 different CAD formats and run in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

Kinematic Assemblies has been added to Lagoa as a new feature. With it, designers or engineers can design a complete mechanical system and the interaction of its components. The engine is currently in beta.
