Transition Designer makes it easy to create transitions, effect fades, and text and graphic overlays that previously had to be created via the detour through Adobe After Effects.

The plug-in is intended to enable Premiere users to implement transitions with just a few clicks, while keyframes can be used to control the effect parameters precisely. Numerous presets for the parameters are also available.

Users can choose between the effect groups “Push”, “Wipe”, “Rumble”, and “Dissolve”, each of which offers a wide variety of settings. All categories can also be combined with a glow or blur effect. In addition to the transitions from the effect groups, custom transitions can also be designed using Photoshop files and black-and-white videos, even without any programming knowledge.

All effects are GPU-optimised and enable a real-time preview within Premiere through the Mercury Engine – provided, of course, that a suitable graphics card is available.

In addition, paid Full and Lite versions are available, which contain more functions than the free version. Transition Designer is currently available only for Windows; the plug-in is due to appear for Mac in the first quarter of 2015.
