Avid wants to use it to reach beginners who do not yet need the full range of functions. The free version for Mac and Windows includes four parallel recording tracks and 16 MIDI tracks. Significantly fewer than the full version, 496 to be precise. However, for beginners, this can be enough for experimentation, also in combination with 21 effects.
The results can be saved in the Avid cloud. In this case too, the options are limited to storing three projects, although this can be changed for an additional charge.
