iClone can be used to create animations quickly without having to create content from scratch – and the whole thing is intended to work in real time. iClone is suitable for use with Microsoft Kinect, allowing previsualizations to be created with motion-capture data. The tool’s result is not photorealistic or intended for actual productions, but can be used in a content-oriented way for directing purposes.
The tool is clearly divided into stage, scene, actor, animation, media and export, so animation resources can be found quickly while designing a scene. It has a dynamic sky and lighting system, height maps with terrain, pre-made movements in the MixMoves Motion List and props for simulating rigid-body animations.
3DTotal has joined forces with Reallusion to be able to offer a free full version of iClone5. To download the tool, interested parties must register on Reallusion’s website.
The current version of iClone is 6. Here you can find an overview of the features.
