Media Composer 8.4 now allows frame sizes from 256 x 128 up to 8,192 x 8,192 pixels to be defined, and these can also be saved as presets. Other features include native support for the XAVC-I and ProRes codecs, a quick-search function for the timeline that makes it possible to search material quickly and easily by clip titles, resolution, comments and markers.
In addition, MC users can display subtitle previews according to the EIA-608 standard and adjust the size of the user-interface monitors so that more can be seen than before – or if purchasing glasses is to be postponed a little longer (wink, wink).
Audio enthusiasts will be pleased with the new MC access to ProTools’ AAX Factory Presets; QuickTime DNxHR alpha channels and AMD W7100 and W8100 graphics cards are now also supported.
