Version 1.0 of the Maya plug-in is intended to connect Autodesk’s software with the ten currently most popular compositing tools – including Nuke and NukeX, Fusion, After Effects. It is also compatible with Krita, Gimp, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Hitfilm Pro.
The tool is intended to save Maya users from creating new composititing files every time they have rendered a scene in Maya. According to developer Andrew Hazelden, the comp file contains all references from the rendered Maya scene as well as additional details such as sequence duration, image resolution, active image planes, render-layer names and the render-layer transfer mode. The plug-in is intended to analyse the scene with just one click and create the new file in the comp tool.
Rocket Comp can work with rendered media that with Arnold, Maxwell Render, Mental Ray, PlayblastVR and the Maya Software Renderer. The plug-in is compatible with Maya versions 2012 to 2016 and runs on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
The single-user licence costs 249 US dollars; a 5-user licence is available for 995 US dollars. Rocket Comp is available here.
