Alongside the new core algorithm, V-Ray 3.3 for 3ds Max offers variance-based adaptive sampling for fast setup, uniform noise distribution and higher image quality that is less dependent than before on material and light settings. Alpha channel sampling has also been improved, particularly for scenes with a lot of depth of field and motion blur.

An overview of the other 25 features is available here on the Chaos Group website. The update is free for all V-Ray 3.0 customers. For anyone who does not yet own V-Ray: it costs 750 euros and is compatible with Windows from XP Professional x64 .
