The editor of this year’s animago trailers from the SAE Institute

The day after tomorrow, we’ll finally get to see the animago and still trailers at this year’s animago AWARD ceremony. The two trailers were realised this year by student Thomas Richter from the SAE Institute.

The student will also accompany the first event in Munich’s Gasteig with a camera on his shoulder. Thomas Richter is currently studying for his Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film Production at the SAE Institute in Munich. The basic training, the so-called SAE Diploma, is very practice-orientated; in the Bachelor’s courses, students are then introduced to the scientific and economic aspects that are important for media productions.

In the film productions he has mastered at the university so far (you can find an overview in the picture gallery), Richter has been interested in a wide range of tasks: from production planning and camera work to colour grading and compositing, he has tried out and implemented as much as possible. Which, of course, becomes increasingly difficult the larger the productions become. However, Richter’s clearly favoured discipline is editing; this is where he is really at home and from there he undertakes his excursions into other areas of film production.

Read the interview with Thomas Richter about his favourite editing tools and his work on the animago trailers on page 2.
