Graphorn family

Image Engine sculpted the Graphorns in ZBrush and also modeled them in Maya. The hair was simulated with Yeti, and rendering was done in 3Delight. For greater realism in the movements, Image Engine developed the new Ziva muscle simulation system. The artists designed the full-CG animals with such a high level of detail that extremely close close-ups are no problem.

Hunger for brains

The blue-green creature Swooping Evil often helps magizoologist Newt out; the fact that it often gets hungry for human brains afterward is a necessary evil. Bats and mantras served as models for the animal’s design. The team carried out numerous tests for the powerful movements as well as rapid agility similar to that of a swallow.
