Anyone who does not want to go outside in this weather can safely make do with this fresh poly garden in Houdini. The video can be found as a guest tutorial on Entagma. The node construction runs via a grid created at the start, which is deformed using a Polyreduce node. The animation is then created via SOP Solver, which guest tutor Yader explains in deatail in the video.

Project File

To make the whole thing easier to follow, you can download the project file here. It includes the five variants of the effect presented.

Further Houdini Tutorials from Entagma

With a focus on procedural workflows with Houdini, Moritz and Manuel make useful information available to other CG artists on Entagma. More than 41 videos have been uploaded so far, all of which you can find on the Vimeo channel. The two currently work at Aixsponza in Munich. The studio appeared in several DP issues and was also nominated for an animago AWARD. To whet the tutorial appetite even further: here is a video on modelling and rendering a quartz crystal. Have fun learning!
