GoPro VR: Fusion 360° Camera Is Here

In our DP issue 02 : 2017, we also presented 360° setups with the previous GoPro cams in the VR focus. Now GoPro Inc. has just released its new VR camera called Fusion . The cam will be delivered in Europe from November 24. Here we give you an overview of the specifications and functions of the new camera.

Features of the GoPro Fusion Camera

With GoPro’s new camera, you can record 360° content in 5.2K at up to 30 FPS. The GoPro app allows you to control, preview in real time, edit and share content directly from a smartphone. At present, the functions are only available for iOS smartphones – but Android is to follow in the near future. For PC and Mac, Fusion Studio including Adobe Premiere Pro CC plugins is available. Among other things, this allows you to use the OverCapture function. Below are the details of the camera:

• Spherical videos in 5.2K resolution at 30 frames and 60 frames at 3K. The codec used is H.264 with a maximum video bitrate of 120Mb/s.
• Spherical photos with a total resolution of 18MP
• OverCapture enables traditional video creation from 360 footage
• Improved stabilisation
• 360 audio can also be recorded directly with the camera
• Waterproof is the Fusion camera to a depth of 5 metres
• Time-lapse video and photo, Night-Lapse and Burst modes
• Voice control in 10 languages
• GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass
• Wi-Fi + Bluetooth
• Additional scope of delivery with Fusion Grip mount, protective case, adhesive mounts, battery and charging cable

Price and Availability

GoPro’s Fusion is currently available on the official website for customers from the US and the EU. In terms of price, the camera starts at 749.99 euros. In EU countries, delivery starts on November 24 of this year.
