The Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) is an internationally oriented university of art and science with the right to award doctorates and habilitations. With around 1,000 students in the fields of Fine Art, ART.Teaching, Performing Arts, Design, Art History and Media Studies, HBK Braunschweig is one of the major art universities in Germany. HBK has a strong tradition in the media of film and video.
We are looking for a person with several years of experience in the artistic and practical implementation of ambitious video art projects as well as in digital film production, particularly with cameras from Red and Blackmagic.
Tasks
- Introductory courses on the artistic design possibilities of camera work (image composition, lenses, lighting, green screen, sound)
- Teaching practical workflows (concept development, screenplay, film funding, shoot planning)
- Project-related individual artistic supervision of students and assistance with teachers’ research projects
- Maintenance of the technical facilities for production and projection
- Supervision of regular cinema screenings
- Creative participation in the further development of the equipment pool.
The post holder works closely with the artistic employees in post-production and the sound workshop, as well as with the full-time teachers of moving images.
Employment Requirements
- a completed artistic-design degree or a comparable qualification
- several years of professional practice in design-artistic projects in the field of camera and image design
- an artistic practice of their own
- the necessary empathy for advising on and implementing students’ artistically demanding concepts in the innovative context of an art university
- experience in teaching or training is desirable
The employee is actively involved in teaching. The area of activity includes a teaching obligation of 12 course hours. Payment is made up to pay group 13 TV-L, depending on the actual transfer of duties and fulfilment of the personal requirements.
