Allegorithmic has released the next update of its 3D authoring and painting software Substance Painter. Alongside new features, there is also a Black Friday announcement.

New Features in 2017.4

  • Layer Instances is a new feature that lets you transfer one or more layers to multiple texture sets. This allows you to flexibly link either the entire layer stack or only selected parts.
  • Live Link plug-in now also supports Unreal Engine 4 with this update. You can find the update here in the Epic Markeplace. After right-clicking on a mesh in the Content Browser, you can work iteratively on the texturing using “Send to Substance Painter”.
  • More content with more than 20 new procedural materials, as well as 40 new grunge maps.

Black Friday Sale at Substance

In a few hours, the Black Friday sale will also begin at Allegorithmic. Among other things, the company will then offer the monthly Indie subscription (currently €16.80) for the equivalent of €8.40. Existing users will also then be able to switch to the discounted plan, which will subsequently run for a period of 6 months.
