Now It Begins…!
3ds Max 2019 and the Substance plug-in enter the stage together!
The beta version of the plug-in was released in November 2017. Since then, numerous beta testers, together with Allegorithmic, have driven development forward and tried to fix errors and continuously improve it.
The result of this phase shows a self-explanatory plug-in with tools “that simply work.” This now also gives 3ds Max users the opportunity to take advantage of all the benefits of the professional material creation toolset.
The Substance plug-in currently supports V-Ray and Corona, as well as the latest versions of Octane and Arnold. The Substance menu is suitably integrated into Max’s interface, thereby enabling a smooth, disruption-free workflow for all programme users.
All materials can be sent to a user’s own 3ds Max library, together with all files that the person has pulled from Substance Source. There are more than 1,000 materials to choose from—the agony of choice strikes once again.
What Is Still to Come?
Goals have been set for the coming year that Allegorithmic wants to add as additional feature, such as network/cloud rendering, support for further third-party renderers and animated Substance support.

What is possible becomes clear in the example by Keerthan Sathya.
The plug-in is available for 3ds Max 2018 (and higher) on Windows and is completely free. Substance Source files can be accessed as usual with a Substance subscription. The prices remain the same: Substance Indie for $19.90/month, Pro Plans for $99.90/month. You can find further information about the first version of the plug-in HERE.
