We were at the Video Copilot Live Show in Berlin for you and were already able to get a first insight into the team’s projects. Anyone wondering what the After Effects guru is currently doing can look forward to a new plug-in. Andrew Kramer also briefly presented the new tool at NAB 2019: “Nebula 3D” – that is the mysterious name of the new tool. You can already view the first sneak peeks and trailers here. We found out for you which features to expect with Nebula 3D!
Nebula 3D Features
With Element 3D, Video Copilot has already taken care of geometries (& materials) in After Effects. The logical next step? Volumes, of course! Anyone who feels like creating effects such as clouds, atmospheres or fog with After Effects will have the following features available, among others:
- 3D Volumetrics & simulation of 3D lights in After Effects
- Advanced light scattering
- GPU acceleration & real-time rendering viewport
- Node-based editor for lights, including Projection, Source and Flicker settings
- Support for VDB format and also VDB sequences
- Control options for editing the volumes (e.g. with Booleans)
- Support for Element 3D, Cinema 4D and After Effects
There was also another short presentation at the Maxon booth at NAB 2019 (starts at 02:24:00).
Availability
There are currently no precise details about the release period, price or system requirements – so far, only a vague indication of the second quarter of 2019 has been given. Anyone who has followed Video Copilot’s history knows, however, that a very large span of time can form between announcement and actual release. We will add further information and updates here.
