Media Composer 2019 is now available. The software update from Avid brings, among other things, 16K resolutions, an ACES workflow, a new media engine, a new Resolve-style workspace toolbar and more. In our next DP issue 19 : 05, we will take a detailed look at the software.
New Feature Highlights
With support for more video and audio streams, live timeline and background rendering, as well as an option for distributed processing, users can expect more performance from the newly developed media engine. Depending on the Media Composer variant, various editing, finishing and collaboration features have been added in Media Composer 2019. Alongside the new engine, highlights include:
- 32-bit floating-point pipeline with 16K, HDR, as well as ACES and OpenEXR support
- New formats with support for MXF OP1a and new DNxUncompressed
- New timeline tools for editing clips & audio tracks more quickly
- Panel interface for individually adapting the user interface
- Workspace toolbar for switching between Edit, Color, Effects and Audio.
- Organize, display and search media using new methods, including through a small visual navigator window.
- Inspector tool, with which metadata for a clip or sequence can be created, edited or displayed in a bin.
