The Khronos Group now has a new member in the consortium with Autodesk. Since 2000, the group has been developing open, royalty-free standards for 3D graphics, virtual and augmented reality, parallel computing, neural networks and more. These have so far included well-known standards such as OpenGL, OpenCL, OpenCL and glTF. Members include Google, Epic Games, Nvdia, Intel, AMD, Adobe, Dell, Otoy, Unity and many more.

According to the blog entry, Autodesk is said to have joined primarily to support the glTF file format and the 3D Commerce Exploratory Group. glTF is an open standard intended as a format for 3D assets and scenes, including PBR materials and animations. You can find more information here.
