The HBO miniseries “Chernobyl“ (2019) deals with the 1986 nuclear disaster in Ukraine. Led by DNEG Visual Effects Supervisor Max Dennison, the Double Negative team worked on more than 800 VFX shots for it. The studio has now released a four-part “Behind the VFX” series about the work. In the first video, DNEG Creative Director Paul Franklin and Max Dennison discuss how the visual effects helped tell the characters’ personal stories and portray the impact of the disaster on the population.
