Dates, statements and links are preserved from the original.Following the release of RenderMan 23, an update round now follows for Pixar’s renderer. Alongside various bug fixes for Maya, Houdini and Katana, the release includes the following new features, among others:
- PxrSurface with a new Roughness parameter to allow separate Roughness values to be used for reflections and refraction (all)
- Alembic Procedurals with poly and subdiv mesh conversion and more (all)
- Maya 2020 is now offically supported with the new update. (Maya)
- Alembic Cache workflow improvements such as an Auto-Save feature and more (Maya)
- Preset Browser Export is now possible for child materials and shading nodes with a prefix (Katana)
Availability
RenderMan 23.1 is now available for Windows, macOS and Linux for Maya 2018.3 and above, Katana 3.0+ and Houdini 17.0 here. Alongside the unrestricted and free non-commercial version, the “Professional” edition is currently available for $595 USD.
