Boris FX product specialist Vin Morreale demonstrated the BCC Remover tool for clone replacement in moving footage.
On-screen clone controls
Continuum 2020.5 added on-screen widgets for positioning, scaling, feathering and rotating both the clone source and destination directly over the footage. The demonstration used two close-up retouching examples: removing a facial mark with Spot Clone Removal and reducing crow’s feet with Shape Clone Removal.
Spot Clone Removal
First, apply the BCC Remover filter to the target clip.

In the Clone group, set Spot Offset Mode to Absolute. Relative Offset links the source and destination points; Absolute allows them to move independently.

Movement from the subject and camera can still make a static clone unsatisfactory, so launch the Mocha motion tracker.

Mocha provides separate source and destination search areas. Place the destination tracker over the feature being retouched and keep it inside the red Clone Destination Search Area. Place the source tracker inside the Clone Source Search Area.

Use the on-screen widget’s feather controls to soften the edge of the cloned region.

For final integration, adjust Opacity and Clone Color in the Clone subgroup.

Shape Clone Removal
For a freeform retouching region, select Removal Method: Clone Shape.

Launch the Mocha motion tracker, then select the X-Spline tool and draw a mask around the target region.

After defining the region, click the tracker button to calculate the track.

For Shape Clone Removal, open PixelChooser Mask to adjust feathering. Opacity and Clone Color remain available in the tool controls.

Test tracking stability, edge treatment and host compatibility on representative production footage before committing the effect.
